Belly Breathing

This breathing technique known as Belly Breathing or Diaphragmatic Breathing is a great way to transition from your daily stress to relaxation, meditation, mindfulness or even sleeping.  The great news about this one is that you’ve already done it!  If you watch a baby breathe, you will notice that as babies we all are belly breathers.  When we get older, our breathing tends to change to shorter, shallower breaths usually in and out of the chest area.  So, for managing stress, transitioning to mindfulness or yoga, or just to get a better quality of sleep, give this technique a try.  It may be easier to try this one laying down or even laying on your side.  Try to relax and set any self-consciousness about the belly aside.   After trying a few times, you will usually get this technique without much trouble at all.
